Catholic Schools IN FOCUS

The motto of the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago includes "faith, focus, and achievement." With the launch of IN FOCUS, we hope to sharpen our communication with the community of parents, educators, boards, alumni and benefactors who experience, participate in, and support our mission to young people and spread the word of what we are achieving.

We also hope to expand that community through pass-along of IN FOCUS to others who may benefit from hearing our news and views.

With 256 elementary and high schools, Chicago has the largest Catholic school system in the nation. Stretching across Cook and Lake Counties, we encompass a wide diversity...and a moving, powerful unity.

All schools must have faith, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, at their core. All schools share the mandate for justice that demands the strongest academic program as a sine qua non. All schools must reach out beyond bricks and mortar to serve. All, in turn, must be themselves served and challenged by strong stakeholders.

You who will be receiving and, we hope, reading IN FOCUS are those stakeholders.

Faith, focus, and achievement are not for the lazy or faint of heart. The challenge and promise of Catholic schools strike close to the bone.

May this "focused" exchange be held - as the children are - in the heart of God.
