TEN RULES FOR E-RATE SUCCESS
Winston E. Himsworth, Executive Director of the online newsletter, E-Rate Central
published an article on November 11, 2004 that offers good advice for e-rate managers.
In the article, Mr. Himsworth lists the 10 rules:
- E-rate is not, and cannot be treated as, a “file it and forget it” program. It is a full year job.
- Keep up-to date. E-rate rules continue to change and must be monitored carefully.
- Carefully read all form certifications.
- Whenever possible, file online.
- When filing paper forms, use the current versions.
- Pay strict attention to deadlines.
- Respond promptly – and carefully – to all review inquiries.
- Technology planning and procurement practices are important.
- Maintain records for at least five years.
- Know when you need help and where to turn for it.
