Placement tests for Catholic high schools throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago will take place simultaneously on Saturday, January 8, 2005.
The test is open to all eight-graders in Catholic, private or public elementary schools who plan to enter any of the Catholic secondary schools in Cook and Lake counties. Advance registration is not necessary. Students should report to the high school they wish to attend at 8 a.m. on January 8 with two No. 2 pencils and a check or money order for the $25 exam fee made payable to the school.
Dr. Nicholas Wolsonovich, superintendent of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools remarked, “More than 90 percent of students who take the test are accepted into the school of their choice. However, high schools also consider the student’s elementary records and consult with teachers and parents.”
Test results will be mailed to students by February 15, 2005.
The single exception to the placement test requirement is Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago. Students interested in attending Cristo Rey are advised to contact the school’s Admissions Department.
