  CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS GEAR UP FOR SPRING REGISTRATION  
  CHICAGO (April 6, 2006) – Catholic elementary schools across the Archdiocese of Chicago are currently accepting new student registrations for the 2006-2007 school year . Most of the Archdiocese’s 218 elementary schools in Cook and Lake counties welcome children into their three and four-year old Pre-Schools, Kindergartens and grades one through eight.

Parents registering new students should contact the Catholic schools in their area for information on enrollment procedures, space availability, tuition rates, financial assistance and other details about the special offerings of their local or conveniently located Catholic schools.

A directory that allows a search by area, school name or city, with school contact information, and school web site addresses, is available by visiting the Office of Catholic Schools web page on the Archdiocese of Chicago web site, www.archchicago.org

The Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Chicago play a critical role in the life of the

community by providing academic excellence and faith formation for students of many races, faiths and backgrounds. Catholic elementary schools average a 19 to 1 student/teacher ratio with an attendance rate of 97 percent. Ninety-one percent of Catholic schools in Cook and Lake counties have pre-school programs. Eighty percent provide before school care while 94 percent have after school care.
